We assess blood supply, muscle and joint.
Hands-on work to free up stiff joints, quiet down muscle spasm and release scar tissue, before you exercise.
What It Is
Manual therapy is hands-on treatment for musculoskeletal pain: joint mobilization, soft tissue work, muscle energy techniques, strain-counterstrain. It is safe, non-invasive, and it happens before we ask you to exercise anything.
The order matters. A pulled muscle that keeps coming back is often a restricted joint underneath it. Loosening that joint first is why the exercises finally hold instead of aggravating you.
Techniques we use here include joint mobilization for restricted joints, soft tissue mobilization including the Graston technique for fibrous tissue, and muscle energy techniques for muscles that have shortened.

What It Helps
When a joint is stiff or a muscle will not let go, hands-on work first is often what lets the rest of treatment hold.

Questions, Answered
It should not. Joint mobilization and muscle energy techniques are pain-free by design, and strain-counterstrain is gentle enough that we use it on patients of every age. You are in control the whole time. If something is uncomfortable, say so and we adjust it.
No. A massage works on soft tissue to help you relax. Manual therapy is treatment aimed at a specific restriction we found in your evaluation, whether that is a joint that will not glide, fibrous tissue, or a muscle stuck short. Different goal, different training, and it sits inside a plan.
Usually early on, less later. Hands-on work does the most for you at the start, when the job is getting you out of pain and moving. As you progress through Prime and Perform, the balance shifts toward loading and strength.
