Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • Turning your head to reverse the car, and stopping short
  • A knot between your shoulder blades that has its own postcode by 3pm
  • Sleeping on one specific side because the other one is not an option
  • Waking up stiff and calling it “how I slept” for the ninth week running
  • Pins and needles creeping into a hand while you scroll
  • Reaching for the ibuprofen before you reach for your laptop

Why It Happens

Neck pain is a symptom. Something causes it.

Necks rarely hurt for one tidy reason. It is usually a mix: joints in the neck that have stiffened and stopped sharing the load, deep muscles that gave up holding your head where it belongs, an irritated nerve root sending signals into the arm, and eight hours a day of a posture nobody designed you for.

None of that is visible from across a room, and none of it is fixed by a printed stretching sheet. A cause-first evaluation works out which of those is actually driving your pain, and the plan follows from that.

The Honest Truth

Waiting on a neck does not make it wait on you.

If you keep waiting

  • The shoulder and upper back start compensating, and start complaining too
  • Headaches show up, because the neck and the head share more than people think
  • You move it less, which stiffens exactly the joints that needed to move

If you start this week

  • You know the actual cause by the end of visit one
  • Hands-on relief starts at your very first visit
  • You get a plan with an endpoint: a real one, not an open tab of visits

Nobody regrets starting too early. Plenty of people here wish they had started sooner.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your neck.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here is what the four phases look like for a neck.

Weeks 1–2

Pain

Calm the pain down.

Hands-on work on the stiff joints and the muscles guarding them, starting your first visit, so you can turn your head again.

Weeks 2–6

Prime

Get your motion back.

Targeted mobility work in the segments that have been quietly locked, plus the deep neck muscles that stopped doing their job.

Weeks 6–10

Perform

Make it strong enough to trust.

Progressive strengthening through the neck, shoulder blade and upper back, so your head is supported by muscle rather than willpower.

Weeks 10+

Prevent

Return better than before.

We rebuild your desk setup and your habits around the thing that caused it, and test it before you are cleared. That is the endpoint.

Sharon at Maxicare was wonderful! She was very compassionate and knowledgable about what I needed for neck relief. She always took her time and made sure I got the care I needed.

Questions, Answered

Neck Pain, no runaround.

Usually not. Most neck pain improves without imaging, and scans of people with no pain at all routinely show wear and tear, so a picture does not always point at the cause. We start with a hands-on evaluation. If imaging becomes genuinely necessary, we will help you get it.

In most cases moving it is exactly what helps, at the right dose. Guarding a stiff neck tends to make it stiffer. We find which directions are safe for you first, then load them deliberately, one-on-one, so nothing is left to guesswork.

Most patients see a significant reduction in pain within six visits. A full plan for neck pain runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, and you will always know which phase you are in and what is left. That is a plan with an endpoint, not an open-ended string of appointments.
